Handing out the facts against Peter MacCallum Cancer Centre

Right to Life Australia President Margaret Tighe said today, “I am not surprised people are protesting outside Peter MacCallum Cancer Centre when one considers that the hospital of which Melbourne is so proud

- a leading cancer treatment hospital in the southern hemisphere - should involve itself in providing physician-assisted suicide”.

She continued, “Under the terms of Victoria’s Voluntary Assisted Dying legislation Peter MacCallum has apparently agreed to provide a facilitator (they term a “navigator”) to advise people in relation to the carrying out of this legislation.”

She concluded, “The overwhelming majority of oncologists are opposed to this legislation as is the case around the world. Clearly the Andrews’ Labor government has done some deal with Peter MacCallum in order to obtain their involvement in this appalling piece of legislation.”
