All Right to Lifers and indeed other members of not for profit groups who campaign on a range of issues with Parliamentary representatives should be concerned about the Coalition Government’s planned Electoral Legislation Amendment (Electoral Funding and Disclosure Reform) Bill 2017.
If passed the legislation will require groups such as ours to ask our donors of $250 or more to send a statutory declaration indicating that they are “an allowable donor”. This is meant to prevent political parties receiving donations from other countries. However, this means appeals for funds would be affected, and more critically our voice in defence of the unborn and vulnerable aged will effectively be silenced.

Please ask them to withdraw the Electoral Legislation Amendment (Electoral Funding and Disclosure Reform) Bill 2017. An example of a start of a letter/email:
I am very opposed to the Government’s electoral funding bill which will seriously damage the fundraising of small not-for-profit groups. It is an attack on freedom of speech.
