Wolf in Sheep's Clothing

“Truth was the first casualty of the debate about the so-called “Public Health and Wellbeing (Safe Access Zones) Bill 2015” in the Legislative Assembly today,” said Dr Katrina Haller, Chief Executive Officer of The Right to Life Australia.

The mantra, “This is not about abortion,” was repeated as was “This is not about freedom of speech,” she continued. “The result was a vote that denies freedom of speech outside abortion clinics,” she said. “So it is about abortion, and it is about freedom of speech.” She added, “We have freedom of speech everywhere in Victoria, except outside abortion clinics, where people want to speak.”

“Over 300 babies have been saved from outside the Fertility Control Clinic in East Melbourne due to people outside the place offering help to the women who enter,” Dr Haller said. She continued, “Some of the people outside the clinic ask, “Do you really want to do this?” and the answer is, “No. I am being pressured.”

She continued, “The Fertility Control Clinic is losing patients and money. That is what it is about,” Dr Haller said. “Once a women gets into the clinic, no one gets paid – the cleaners, receptionists etc. unless the abortion is done.” “They are protecting their revenue stream,” she said.

“This bill is a Wolf in Sheep’s Clothing and many members had the wool pulled over their eyes. Let’s hope the Legislative Council seeks the truth and votes differently. The lives of many babies depend on it,” Dr Haller concluded.
